W.A.I.S.T.D.

ShamRock-4 by theworsteyes.

We shot a music video for Nickelus F this weekend. Just finished editing it a few hours ago and it is now in the hands of a few. Great feedback so far so be sure to check this out in like, three months. HA!

Shout out to David Beckham for the cameo. Get well soon buddy! More pics over at theworsteyes.

Black Girls.

Black Girls-1 by theworsteyes.

A few days ago, I somehow got coaxed to shoot a video for my friend's band. This is the result in the night. Black Girls is a band from Richmond half Black Star half Spice Girls. Their name at least is that. Anyways check out this video I did in like ten seconds. Mad skills.

Millz.

Millz-2 by theworsteyes.

Millz is a hip hop artist that I'm currently working with in Richmond. He's in the process of coming out with a new mixtape in conjunction with the SHHO Brand Book. I'm not one to pitch how great someone is so I'll just let him show you. But I'm not one to spoil surprises so I'll just wait until we are finished with this project.

Albums of the Year.

albums by theworsteyes.
These are not the best albums of the year, or are they the highest-selling album of the year. Heck, the might not even be apart of this year! Nevertheless, they are my albums of the year. The albums from 2009 that flooded my most recently played on iTunes.

mosdef by theworsteyes.
Actor turned rapper turned actor turned father of six kids with three different women turned rapper Mos Def's The Ecstatic was one of my early favorites this year. Dope cover from the movie Killer of Sheep, which was too dope for me to appreciate, topped of the international feel to be a great album. His comeback was great. And I probably listened and sung along with Casa Bey for a good 1,204 times. Dope video for that song too. Album in one word: DOPE.

girls by theworsteyes.
Girl's Album had all the indie music writers in the world clean their glasses with glee. Beating out Bitte Orca and Hospice and all those other Brooklyn noobs, the pitchforked San Fran Band made it on this list leaving all the other cats off. With such enormously evocative voice... ah I'll leave reviews to other real blogs. This album rulz! Album in one word: LAURA!

cudi by theworsteyes.
The Cudster's debut album was my favorite album of this year and had the most plays of probably all the other albums combined. Cudiguy had me going early with his mixtape and finished it off strong with this concept album. His music moves me even when I'm not a stoner dude. Album in one word: BEST.

clipse by theworsteyes.
To be honest, I just recently got this album and I'm not sure if it should really be on here since I haven't listened to it much. But what the hell, here it is. Clipse's Til the Casket Drops. Album in one word: NEW!

jay by theworsteyes.
Blueprint 3, my trip to New York City really made me realize how big Jay-Z is. He really does run NYC and it didn't take him too long to do so. Jay brings it and also brings along some great collaborations as well. So many Blueprints to follow, means so many new great artists to watch out for. The Warm-Up cough. J. Cole cough. Album in One Word: HOV.

mayer by theworsteyes.
Love him or hate him, John Mayer is one of the best guitarists out there. Yeah, there are those virtuoso noobs and that Laiho cat. But this is John Mayer, the douchebag you love to hate. Whatever that means, Battle Studies took me a while to get used to. It's definitely different from Continuum and cannot be touched but also should not be compared. This album has a nostalgic feel to his 83 days. And me being an avid @johncmayer fanboy, I had to put him on the list. He can break up with me any day. Album in one word: ASSASSIN.

wale by theworsteyes.
DC Maryland and Virginia are a little confused with Wale's debut album. It isn't like his mixtapes. He did make it big. He is from where you're from. Don't hate on him just because of that. This album shows a lot of versatility. There are slow parts and fast parts... Badass... Album in one word: DMV

pp by theworsteyes.
You either knew about them with Chunk of Change and love them to this day, or heard them everywhere after Manners came out and hate them for it because your a music snob. Either way, it's been playing on my stereo ever since CoC but ended until Lil Scotty Mescudi took over. Album in one word: doo-doo-doo-do-do-do-doo-doo-do-do (Intro to Little Secrets).

phoenix by theworsteyes.
This Parisian band was definitely the most played in the cars I've been in and the most sung with confused lyrics as well. Their up-and-down melodies give to catchy music for everyone. I don't know what that last sentence meant either... Album in one word: French.

mr by theworsteyes.
I've read some bad reviews about Mr. Hudson's debut album, but I listened to it until I loved it. And it worked! And when Cudi's verse dropped, I loved it even more. Do the face. Do the face! Album in one word: Kid-Cudi-is-in-it!

owl by theworsteyes.
I know what you're thinking. But yeah! Album in one word: DCFC

xx copy by theworsteyes.
Album was good but The xx self-titled was better. Nuff said. Album in one word: Badass

Some honorable mentions include; A Bomb in a Birdcage, The Great Misdirect, Only Built for Cuban Linx Pt. II, Born Like This, and Merriweather Post Pavilion. I had to put Animal Collective in to appease music people...

Earthtone at Greenhouse.

Run This Town-9 by theworsteyes.

I'm currently back in NYC for the time being handling some business for a future project. While my last trip was short but epic, this trip will be fairly long but hopefully equally as epic, when I'm not working at least. Here are some photos from last Friday's show at The Greenhouse in New York City.

The night was spent with some amazing talent. Great music from Earthtone and talented dancers from the beautiful Sugar and Spice girls. We hung out with super nice Kesha Nichols and her girls in VIP and had a great time through out the night.

Stay tuned for updates while my time is spent in the big apple and check out the rest of the photos in the club here. Videos to be up soon.

Earthtone in Chelsea.

I've been pretty busy recently going to New York this past weekend. Now I may be known to bend the truth a little, but when I say I lived like rockstar for three days, I actually did. I went up to NYC with my friends from Earthtone as they performed at Greenhouse on Friday night and hung out with the New New York Fam. This video was recorded just minutes before we left to go back home to Richmond.

Saturday, October 17

Supernova.

I got the chance to listen the Straight No Chaser, Mr Hudson's debut solo album, this weekend before it officially drops on the 19th. It is definitely good and maybe I'll switch back and forth from Kid Cudi's Man on the Moon. Anyways, if you haven't heard of the song Supernova, then I guess you haven't heard of Mr Hudson. And if you haven't heard of Mr Hudson, you will soon.

Friday's Vimeo Video: I'll Kill Her.

This week's FVV comes from Joerg Barton and his music video created to Soko's I'll Kill Her. It's a little repetitive but pretty cool nonetheless. If anything you should listen to the song. Wup wup!

Ian, Danny, Dylan, and Duy's Infinite Playlist.

ATLiens-61 by you.

As I mentioned in the previous post, three of my friends and I took a road trip down to Atlanta a few weeks ago. On our way back, we calculated that the ride home would be about nine and a half hours. So we made a nine and a half hour playlist.

Each of us would choose thirty "chill" songs, not knowing who picked what, and have it play in one mega monster playlist on the ride home. So it wasn't really infinite,we skipped a few repeats, and we went over the nine and a half hours allotted because some people had to go nine songs over. Sorry guys...

Watch Your Manners.

In this age of pirating and The Death of High Fidelity, it seems that music is more or less doomed. But when acts like Passion Pit's Manners is leaked weeks before its May 19th release date, I couldn't help but snatch it. Every now and then I come across an album that I can truly sit through in its entirety. Manners gives me faith that artists can still thrive through this failed American capitalistic music industry. I thought it was disappointing at first after having their EP Chunk of Change win the game of King of the Hill on my iTunes Most Played list, but Passion Pit's debut album slowly gained five stars across the board. Hopefully I won't have to crown it Album of the Summer this early. What do you think?

Friday's Vimeo Video: Sponsored By Destiny

Ok so I was a few hours late with this Friday's Vimeo Video. I was busy shooting Friday's with Duy Nguyen to post it up in time, but have no fear Slagsmålsklubben is here. This is not the official video, but it's probably cooler anyways. Check it out here in HD. Tell me what you think.

Friday's Vimeo Video: We Own The Sky.

This Friday's Vimeo Video is by David Altobelli. It's cool showcase of a cool song called We Own The Sky by M83. It's not the official music video but it is great nonetheless. You can check it out in HD here too.

Monday, April 13

Wale @ The National.

Here's that video I promised. Vimeo sucks because you can only upload one HD video a week. But I'm no Bobby Hundreds to switch to YouTube just like that. I'm also no rich guy to drop $60 for Vimeo Plus. So make use of the HDness and watch it here too.

Anyways, Wale, National, Breakdown, Attention Deficit Tour, April 9th, 2009.

Attention Deficit.

Nike Boots-55 by you.Nike Boots-62 by you. />Nike Boots-43 by you.

"The Attention Deficit Era has now begun."

As the words came from Wale's mouth, the Richmond crowd erupted. Dropping names such as Kid Cudi and Mickey Factz, one could really envision the great future of hip-hop.

Last night I was lurking for the Wale show at the National in Richmond, VA when I felt such an emotion during the set that is indescribable. So on that note, I won't describe it. Just know that when Wale's crew and I rushed center stage with the crowd screaming, the feeling was rich.

It was a good show, despite the long wait for Wale, with Richmond locals EarthTone opening up for the big man himself. Props to Jon Q and the rest of the guys for helping me out tons. I lost a hoodie, but the experience was worth it.

I'll have an exclusive video of the show up soon, but in the meantime check out the rest of the pictures at theworsteyes.

Friday night, after the streets have cooled off from the rabid Wal-Mart murdering crowd, I wandered outside with a few friends of mine to head over to a well-known pop celebrity who just released an album not so long ago. I got an opportunity to drop some gogo beats on a track for something known in the future to be a "remixtape". Watch it. Patent it. You spoiled little LA girls...

GoGo.

Today I was on the set of a GoGo based music group video shoot in Richmond, Virginia. They had motor bicycles. It was cool. I then got kicked off the set after I put my hands in the air and waved them like I just don't care.

uTunes.

It's Fall 2008 and there are some albums that I'm highly anticipating that should be coming out within the next six months. Some may be more of a surprise than others.

First off is the next album by As Cities Burn. They are about three weeks away from finishing the album and I just can't wait. T.J. is still gone so expect more of what you heard with Come Now Sleep. Progressive rock stuff whatever genre at its finest. No joke. I didn't feel like I had to mention Christian. But I just did.

Next is the album in the making of Alison Sudol, better known as A Fine Frenzy. Classic piano pop from a beautiful redhead. This isn't any Sara Bareilles stuff, though I love her too, Alison's music comes with..."thrusting emotion?" It's good, whatever. Check check check the cadence yo.

Next is Mew. They're about to release something right? Their last album came out in 2005! Good thing I wasn't with them since their birth or else I'd be in some serious withdrawal. I still need to get their debut album. Anyways, this TBA album with 15 tracks in consideration should be out...eventually.

Finally, there's E-603. According to his myspace a few months ago, "NEW ALBUM OUT JULY!" According to his myspace in July, "NEW ALBUM OUT AUGUST!" According to his myspace now, "NEW ALBUM OUT SOON!" When will it all end?! That's the thing with mashup technicians, more music comes out they gotsta mash up.

I guess EASTER EGG will have to do for now. He sent me a link to his new album just now, check itzz.

Djangova.

http://img352.imageshack.us/img352/1036/2905979963a0c53c44f5yo4.jpg

Djangova just released another crappy mix. This time it's just a bunch of songs cross-faded together in a single track probably using GarageBand. Sloppily thrown together, the BPM's don't even match. You find yourself dancing to a decent song than having to currently adjust everytime a new song comes in. So bad. But download now here!
